Pool play has been completed in District 15 Little League Williamsport all-star circles, and four teams have emerged from the 10 squads who started to advance to the double elimination stage.
Defending champion Danvers National, along with Boxford, Middleton and Gloucester, will battle it out for the district flag starting this weekend. All District 15 games from here on out will take place at Harry Ball Field in Beverly.
Boxford, which finished atop Pool 1 with a perfect 4-0 record, will take on Middleton (3-1), the second place finisher in Pool 2, Saturday at 11 a.m in Game 1. That will be followed by Game 2, pitting Danvers National (4-0), the Pool 2 winner, against Gloucester (3-1), which claimed second place in Pool 1, at approximately 1 p.m.
On Sunday, the two teams that lost on Saturday will meet at 11 a.m. in Game 3 in an effort to keep their championship hopes alive. Following that at 1 p.m., Saturday’s two winners will clash in Game 4, with whoever emerges unscathed automatically advancing to the district final.
Following a day of rest, the Game 3 winner will meet the Game 4 loser at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the right to advance to the title game. That Game 5 winner would then have to beat the Game 4 winner twice (Thursday and, if necessary, Friday) to capture the District 15 pennant. Both of those games are scheduled for 7 p.m. starts.
The District 15 winner advances on to sectionals, where they’ll meet the champions from District 13 and District 16 along with the runner-up from District 16 (host of this year’s sectionals).
