LAWRENCE — Dads got to celebrate Father’s Day a couple of days early at The Center in Lawrence Friday.
A luncheon, complete with dessert, was served to more than 125 guests, which included many fathers, their spouses and special guests.
Lunch served was beans and rice, baked chicken and a green salad. Ice cream with vanilla wafers was served for dessert.
Fathers who arrived early were also able to take advantage of The Center’s breakfast, staffers said.
Mayor Brian DePena and City Councilor Celina Reyes both came by at lunchtime to wish the dads well and mingle among the crowd.
Raffle prizes were a series of Father’s Day gift baskets. The basket themes were automative/detailing, barbecue and tools.
Workers at The Center also like to put special touches on every event and a case in point were the centerpieces created for the Father’s Day Luncheon. Each centerpiece looked like a men’s shirt with a tie.
