MANKATO — Minnesota State women’s hockey coach John Harrington will temporarily step away from the team to undergo hip surgery, it was announced Monday. Harrington will have the procedure Monday.
MSU director of athletics Kevin Buisman announced that Shari Dickerman will serve as the acting head coach during Harrington’s unspecified leave of absence. Dickerman was also made an associate head coach as part of the move.
Associate head coach Jeff Giesen and assistant coach Alli Altmann are also on MSU’s staff.
Dickerman, who played for MSU from 2000-2004, has been with the program as a coach since 2009.
The Mavericks (3-10) will play in the Smashville Classic this weekend at Nashville. MSU will play Robert Morris Saturday and Boston University Sunday.
