NEWBURYPORT — This month, the Parker River Wildlife Refuge’s Artist of the Month is Haverhill’s Denise DeLongis-Chesky.
DeLongis-Chesky creates nature-themed shadow boxes incorporating clay, wood, stone, glass, decoupage, novel textures and lots of color, according to officials.
She began studying art as a child, and received a bachelor’s degree in art from Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J. While in college she began designing jewelry and currently runs her own studio where she creates pieces for shows as well as custom designs for clients.
In addition she teaches hand-building (clay), and other art classes.
Delongis-Chesky’s shadowboxes are on exhibit at the Parker River Visitor Center, 6 Plum Island Turnpike, through July 31. Her work can be viewed at www.creativedenise.com.
