SALISBURY — Local and state police units responded to Salisbury Beach in the area of Beach Access Point 6 after a body was discovered there Thursday morning.
The office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker confirmed that a woman who has not yet been identified was discovered around 8 a.m. in the vicinity of 176 North End Boulevard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Salisbury police, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to Tucker’s office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded and the death is under investigation, an Essex County DA spokesperson said.
Salisbury police Chief Thomas Fowler described the body as a woman in her early 60s. Although the investigation is not yet complete, foul play does not appear to be involved and there is no danger to the public, Fowler added.
