DANVILLE, N.H. — A juvenile with autism was found and rescued from the woods late Tuesday night in the midst of the first snowstorm of the year by the Danville Police Department’s K9 Rescue Team.
Around 8:15 p.m., the Danville Police Department received a request for service from the Sandown Police Department to help locate a runaway, whom they believed was lost in the woods, police said.
Police then received a call for help from the juvenile, who told police he was freezing cold and that his phone was on 1% battery life when the call dropped, leading police to believe the phone had died and that they boy was lost somewhere in the woods off Wells Village Road.
The juvenile had been missing for about an hour when the K9 team, led by Crue and his handler, Officer Padraig “Paddy” Capsalis, arrived on scene. Crue picked up the boy’s scent and led rescuers into the woods and along power lines.
After a trek of about a mile and a half, the juvenile was located under trees and snow. He was transported to Parkland Medical Center for evaluation.
