A Danville man is listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound, and another local man is being held in connection with the shooting incident.
Danville police report officers were on patrol Monday morning at about 3:45 a.m. when they reported hearing what sounded like shots being fired in the area of the 1600 block of Edgewood Drive.
Officers responded to the scene and found a 20-year-old male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment where he is listed in stable condition.
During the police investigation, two warrants for separate apartments in the 1600 block of Edgewood were obtained with the assistance of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The Danville Police Department Emergency Response Unit served the warrants and placed 31-year-old Torrence S. Gardner of 1102 Fowler Ave. into custody.
Gardner is a suspect in the shooting and is being held on the charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The incident remains under investigation.
