DANVILLE — A Danville man was arrested on Monday by Danville Police for unlawful possession of a weapon.
According to a release from Danville Police, members of the Street Crimes Unit were conducting enforcement near the intersection of Fowler Avenue and English Street when they observed a vehicle with suspended registration traveling southbound on Fowler Avenue.
The vehicle pulled proceed to a driveway in the 900 block of Fowler where officers initiated a traffic stop. Officers observed Demarion Tyler, 20, of Danville, exit the vehicle and ignore officer’s commands to stop. Tyler walked to a nearby house and attempted to hand the backpack he was wearing to a subject inside the residence.
Officers detained Tyler and located a firearm in his backpack.
Tyler was arrested on the charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and transported to the Vermilion County Jail.
