DANVILLE — A Danville man was arrested on Friday for an outstanding warrant from Vermilion County, along with a gun charge and a drug charge.
According to a release from the Danville Police Department, an officer with the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit (POP Unit) observed subjects walking in the roadway and pushing bicycles near the intersection of Harmon and Williams streets. Officers got with the subjects and identified one of them as Patrick Shelby, 30, of Danville.
Officers found that Shelby had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Vermilion County. Officers place Shelby into custody and located a loaded firearm in his waistband. A further search of Shelby uncovered methamphetamine.
Shelby was transported to the Vermilion County Jail, where he was booked on the preliminary charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Methamphetamine Possession, and his outstanding warrant.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
