DANVERS — The town voted in a new School Committee member as well as incumbent officials in its annual town election on Tuesday.
Beth Kontos was elected to her first term as a School Committee member and was the top vote getter in her race, with 1,165 ballots cast in her favor.
Kontos is a retired Salem High School teacher and former president of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts, serving as the head of the labor union from 2018 to 2024.
Incumbent School Committee member Josh Kepnes was reelected to his seat, earning 867 votes. They won against the race’s third candidate, Edward Schrage, who recieved 480 votes.
Longtime Town Moderator Pat Fraizer kept her seat in an unopposed race. As did current Select Board Chair Maureen Bernard, who secured another three-year term on the board.
Ellen Graham earned 916 votes and was elected to serve for three years as a library trustee. Incumbents Cory Ryan and Charles Desmond also won, with 861 and 883 votes, respectively. They beat Kathryn Carbone, who received 616 ballots in her favor.
Below are lists of Town Meeting candidates elected to each precinct. All eight precincts elected six people to three-year terms except Precinct 4, which elected an additional seat to a two-year term.
Precinct 1: Joan Louise Chane, Nova Dee Samodai, Philip Richard Dardeno II, Jillian Earp Durand, Susan Elizabeth Dagley and Paul Richard Daney Jr.
Precinct 2: Joanne M. Wheelock-Ragucci, Patricia Mary Maloney, Arthur James Francis, Kyle Bryce Hopkins, Ellen MacCracken Lefavour and Marianne E. Bolduc.
Precinct 3: Jeffrey Austin Cary, Jane Fuller, Jeanne Gertrude Argento, Lauren Ashley Steeves, James Victor Morose and Vincent Robert Malgeri.
Precinct 4: (For 6-year terms) Karen R. Nastuck, Valentine Ndanga Nanah, Gary Alton Jones, Adam J. DeFilippo, Laurent Rene Perreault and Cory Ryan. (For 2-year term) Julie Bolduc DeFilippo.
Precinct 5: Jennifer L. St. Arneault, Daniel Gagnon, Amy Elizabeth Ciancarelli, Antonietta McDonagh, Michael James Shannon and Julie Elizabeth Curtis.
Precinct 6: Vincent Joseph Mackey, Mark F. Lentine, Thomas Francis Meagher, Michael Joseph Splaine, Fawn Burns Anderson and Peter J. Wilson.
Precinct 7: Kevin Thomas Wood, Richard F. McKenna, Lisa Marie Trask, Robert G. O’Keefe, Barbara Devereux and Noah Daniel Leavitt.
Precinct 8: Elizabeth A. Bernazzani, Jonathan Carl Mattarocchia, Gregory Francis Tremblay, Jane A. Tremblay, Brandi Leeann Ditch and Cedric G. Buettner.
