The Dalton-Varnell-Whitfield County Planning Commission meets Monday at 6 p.m. in the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners meeting room of the county courthouse, 205 N. Selvidge St. in Dalton. The meeting will be livestreamed on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The planning commission makes recommendations to the city councils of Dalton and Varnell and the county commissioners on rezoning requests.
The planning commission members are scheduled to hear:
• A request by Uriel Solis to rezone to low-density, single-family residential from general commercial .23 acres at 200 Quillian Road, Dalton. According to a staff analysis, the property contains a single-family detached dwelling built in 1950, before the county adopted zoning. The rezoning is needed to remodel the home.
• A request by Glen Voyles to rezone to general agriculture from rural residential five acres at 233 Quinn Drive, Rocky Face. Staff analysis says the property contains a single manufactured home. The rezoning has been requested to add an additional single-family dwelling for a family member.
• A request by Bryan Spence to rezone to rural residential from low-density, single-family residential 1.97 acres on Cleo Way, Dalton. The staff analysis says Spence seeks to build up to two duplexes on the property, which is currently undeveloped.
• A request by Luis de Santiago Vasquez to rezone to rural residential from low-density, single-family residential .57 acres on Cleo Way, Dalton. The staff analysis says Vasquez seeks to build up to two duplexes on the property, which is currently undeveloped.
