Next on stage at the Dalton Little Theatre for a limited run is “The Wolves,” a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and winner of the 2015 Relentless Award for Playwriting.
This is a perfect show for the audiences of Soccertown, USA, theater officials said.
“The Wolves,” by Sarah DeLappe, focuses on six Saturday mornings in the lives of a soccer team somewhere in suburban America as they prepare for their games.
The girls discuss everything from genocide to coming of age issues to drugs to boys to literature to each other. Members of this group who at first seem indistinguishable, as each is referred to by only her number and all are clad in the same jersey only bearing her number, quickly become identifiable and different. During six short weeks the Wolves deal with love, loss and identity in ways that real teenagers do.
Please note, in its authenticity, this play does contain strong language.
Directed by Alana Sane and Ellis Stephens and produced in cooperation with Concord Theatricals, “The Wolves” will be performed at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, June 2.
