Amesbury, Jr., Throws
Continued the recent history of Amesbury prowess in the throws. Helped the Redhawks win their fifth consecutive CAL Baker title. A two-event CAL All-Star. Placed second at the CAL Open in the shot put (48-0), and third in the discus with a personal-best throw (131-1). Moved on and threw a personal-best to take third in the shot put at the Division 6 State Meet (49-2.25), while also placing 15th in the discus (129-1). Was a member of both the second-place shot put and discus teams at the Division 6 State Relays, helping Amesbury place second as a team. Won the discus against Lynnfield (128-6) to help clinch the Baker title. Took both the shot put (44-8) and discus (123-1) in a win over Hamilton-Wenham. Was a captain during winter track who posted an area-best shot put of 46-0. Three-season athlete was also a starting tackle for the football team during the fall.
Kyle Lisuaskas
Newburyport, Jr., Hurdles/Relays
Our Daily News Indoor Track MVP this winter, the dominance only continued this spring. The lone area athlete to place at Meet of Champions, taking eighth in the 400 hurdles (55.55) and in the process breaking a Newburyport record held by John O’Neil since 2011. Also placed 17th in the 110 hurdles at Meet of Champions (15.14). A three-event placer at the Division 4 State Meet, taking second in the 400 hurdles (55.92), fourth in the 110 hurdles (14.87) and second with the 4×400 relay team (3:32.26). The CAL Open champion in both the 400 hurdles (57.25) and 110 hurdles (15.25), and also was second with the 4×400 relay (3:37.41). Placed seventh out of 150 competing athletes at the MSTCA State Decathlon with 5624 points. Won the 110 hurdles (15.13) and took second in the long jump (20-2) at the Henry Sheldon Invitational. The Newburyport Honor Roll student also plays soccer during the fall.
David Walker
Newburyport, Soph., Javelin/Hurdles
Carried over a breakout indoor season this winter to the spring. Ended the year placing 20th out of 150 athletes at the MSTCA State Decathlon with 5000 points. Was crowned the CAL Open champion in the javelin (138-2), while also taking fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:00.53). A solid 15th in the javelin at the Division 4 State Meet (127-0). Was second in the shot put at the popular MSTCA Frosh/Soph Meet (36-0). A great showing at the Division 4 State Relays, placing second with the 4×400 relay (3:29.09) and fourth with the shuttle hurdle team (1:06.80). Was second in the javelin at the Henry Sheldon Invitational (140-1), and also earned a silver medal with the shuttle hurdle team (1:10.75). Newburyport Honor Roll student is a three-season runner who also does cross country during the fall.
Jackson Beauparlant
Pentucket, Sr., 800/Mile/Relays
Picked up his first Daily News Indoor All-Star nod this winter, and made sure to add an Outdoor All-Star nod as well before graduating out. Was 17th in the Mile at Meet of Champions in personal-record time (4:21.98), which also was the second-fastest time posted by any Division 5 athlete across the state this spring. A three-event placer at the Division 5 State Meet, taking second in the Mile (4:25.05), fourth in the 800 (1:58.05) and eighth with the 4×800 relay team (8:50.44). The CAL Open champion in both the Mile (4:28.33) and with the 4×800 team (8:39.10). Was a member of the second-place SMR team at the Division 5 State Relays (3:35.55). Won the 800 at the Henry Sheldon Invitational (2:00.26). Had both the fastest time in the 1000 (2:38.92) and Mile (4:26.19) this winter, and was also a member of the Sprint Medley Relay team that earned the title of Adidas All-Americans.
Holden Choma
Pentucket, Soph., HJ
Put himself on the map during the indoor season, but completely blew that out of the water this spring. Cleared a season-best 6-foot-6 to place second at the CAL Open, while also taking fourth in the triple jump (40-1.75). That high jump is second all-time in school history, behind only 1987 State Champion Andy Hirsch (7-0.25). Qualified for Meet of Champions and was 16th in the high jump (6-2). This after placing fifth a week earlier at the Division 5 State Meet (6-0). Cleared 6-2 at the Henry Sheldon Invitational to earn the silver medal. Helped Pentucket place second overall at the MSTCA Frosh/Soph Meet, taking second with a leap of 6-2 while also finishing second in the triple jump (38-9). Is ranked No. 2 in the state with a personal-best set this summer (6-6.75), and has since qualified for the USATF National Junior Olympics next week in Georgia after winning the USATF Region 1 Junior Olympics last week.
Jack Lyman
Triton, Sr., 400/Relays
Ends tremendous senior year being named both a Daily News Indoor and Outdoor Track All-Star. Was crowned the Division 5 State Champion with the 4×400 relay team (3:30.61), reached the podium by placing fourth in the 400 (50.00), and also placed 11th in the 200 (22.90). Helped Triton place second as a team at the CAL Open. Was crowned the CAL Open champion in both the 400 (50.50) and with the 4×400 relay team (3:31.86). Raced to first with the 4×200 relay team at the Division 5 State Relays (1:30.34), and was also third with the 4×400 unit (3:26.65). A member of the winning 4×400 mixed relay team at the Henry Sheldon Invitational (3:53.29). Had both the second-fastest times this winter in both the 300 (36.42) and the 600 (1:24.84), and that 600 time was a new Triton record. Three-season runner also competes in cross country during the fall.
William Hight
Triton, Sr., Sprints/Relays
Stalwart track athlete had both an excellent indoor and outdoor season this year, and leaves being named a Daily News All-Star. Elite sprinter finished 10th at Meet of Champions with the 4×100 relay team (43.04). Had a strong day at the Division 5 State Meet, placing third with the 4×100 unit (43.31), 18th in the 200 (23.19) and 20th in the 100 (11.49). A three-event placer at the CAL Open to help Triton finish second overall as a team. Earned All-CAL First Team by winning with the 4×100 relay (44.21), then made the CAL All-Star list after finishing third in both the 100 (11.35) and 200 (23.17). Won with the 4×200 relay team at the Division 5 State Relays (1:30.34), and also was second with the 4×100 unit (43.57). The Triton Regional Honor Roll student had the fifth-best long jump in the area during the winter indoor season (18-8.50).
Tyler Brosch
Triton, Sr., Sprints/Relays
Has been a consistent Triton Regional Honor Roll student and member of both the indoor and outdoor track teams. Top sprinter and relay weapon leaves earning his first Daily News All-Star nod. Ended career by placing 10th with the 4×100 relay team at Meet of Champions (43.04). That same relay unit was third a week prior at the Division 5 State Meet (43.31), and Brosch himself also finished 21st individually in the 100 (11.50). Helped Triton place second as a team at the CAL Open, racing to first with the 4×100 (44.21) while also taking fourth in the 200 (23.44) and fifth in the 100 (11.42). A member of the winning 4×200 team at the Division 5 State Relays that broke both the meet and school record (1:30.34). Also ran with the second-place 4×100 unit at the State Relays (43.57). During the indoor season this winter, finished with the fourth-best 55-meter time in the area (6.81).
Harry Pike
Triton, Jr., Hurdles/Relays
Another three-year starter and stalwart during both the indoor and outdoor track seasons. Competes in the hurdles individually, but has been known more as a key member of multiple relay teams. The Division 5 State Champion as a member of the 4×400 relay team (3:30.61). Also reached the podium by placing eighth in the 400 hurdles at Div. 5 States (1:00.86). Helped Triton place second as a team at the CAL Open, winning with the 4×400 team (3:31.86) while also earning the bronze medal in the 400 hurdles (1:00.30). The same 4×400 unit also took third at the Division 5 State Relays (3:26.65). Took third in the 400 hurdles at the Henry Sheldon Invitational on his home turf (1:06.40). During the winter indoor season, was a member of the 4×400 team that took third at the State Meet (3:34.64).
