Meet the first and second teams for boys and the first team for girls below, in alphabetical order.
BOYS
FIRST TEAM
Dakota Flaig, jr., St. Anthony
Flaig finished his season with a 76.3 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state champion, Flaig fired rounds of 79 and 78 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his second appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team and third overall after earning second-team honors as a freshman. Flaig is one of three Daily News Boys Golfers of the Year.
Lane Ludwig, sr., St. Anthony
Ludwig finished his final season with the Bulldogs with a 76.3 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state champion, Ludwig finished with rounds of 73 and 79 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his third appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team. Ludwig is one of three Daily News Boys Golfers of the Year and is signed to Illinois Wesleyan University for golf.
Coen Pennington, soph., Teutopolis
Pennington finished his sophomore season with a 38.2 scoring average in nine-hole events and a 76.6 scoring average in 18-hole events. He shot a final round of 72 at the McLeansboro (Hamilton County) Regional and a 78 at the Waterloo (Gibault Catholic) Sectional. Pennington is making his second appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team.
Preston Phillips, sr., St. Anthony
Phillips finished his final season with a 78.4 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state champion, Phillips finished with rounds of 83 and 78 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his second appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team and is signed to Heartland Community College for golf.
Ryan Schmidt, jr., St. Anthony
Schmidt finished his junior season with an 80.9 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state champion, Schmidt finished with rounds of 84 and 81 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team and second overall after earning second-team honors as a sophomore.
Max Seachrist, jr., Effingham
Seachrist finished his junior season with a 36.9 scoring average in nine-hole events and a 73.8 scoring average in 18-hole events. He finished with rounds of 78 and 76 at the Class 2A State Final Tournament at Normal’s Weibring Golf Club. Seachrist is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team.
Joey Trupiano, jr., St. Anthony
Trupiano finished his junior season with a 75.8 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state champion, Trupiano finished with rounds of 76 and 76 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his second appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team and third time overall after earning second-team honors as a freshman. Trupiano is one of three Daily News Boys Golfers of the Year.
Charlie Wegman, sr., St. Anthony
Wegman finished his senior season with an 80.9 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state champion, Wegman finished with rounds of 84 and 84 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area First Team and second time overall after earning second-team honors as a junior.
SECOND TEAM
Nathaniel Gracey, sr., Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg
Gracey finished his senior season with a 39.1 scoring average in nine-hole events and an 88.4 scoring average in 18-hole events. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Hayden Jansen, sr., Teutopolis
Jansen finished his senior season with a 42.6 scoring average in nine-hole events and an 86.2 scoring average in 18-hole events. He is making his second appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Michael Kennedy, soph., Newton
Kennedy finished his sophomore season with a 40.8 scoring average in nine-hole events and an 82.4 scoring average in 18-hole events. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Evan Pryor, sr., Effingham
Pryor finished his senior season with a 41.9 scoring average in nine-hole events and an 85 scoring average in 18-hole events. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Jack Swingler, soph., St. Anthony
Swingler finished his sophomore season with a 78.9 scoring average in six 18-hole events. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Ethan Thoele, jr., Teutopolis
Thoele finished his senior season with a 42.8 scoring average in nine-hole events and an 86.8 scoring average in 18-hole events. He is making his second appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Jude Traub, fr., Effingham
Traub finished his freshman season with a 39.8 scoring average in nine-hole events and a 79.1 scoring average in 18-hole events. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
Isaac Weber, fr., Teutopolis
Weber finished his freshman season with a 41.1 scoring average in nine-hole events and an 82.6 scoring average in 18-hole events. A Class 1A state qualifier, Weber finished with a round of 88 at the Class 1A State Final Tournament at Bloomington’s Prairie Vista Golf Course. He is making his first appearance on the Daily News Boys Golf All-Area Second Team.
GIRLS
FIRST TEAM
Brileigh Bloemer, soph., Teutopolis
Bloemer finished her sophomore season with a scoring average of 49 in nine-hole events. She shot a 99 at the St. Anthony Regional and a 90 at the Taylorville Sectional. Bloemer is making her first appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team.
Halle Bushue, soph., Teutopolis
Bushue finished her sophomore season with a 46.7 scoring average in nine-hole events. She shot a 91 at the St. Anthony Regional and a 93 at the Taylorville Sectional. Bushue is making her first appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team.
Gianna Frisbie, fr., St. Anthony
Frisbie finished her freshman season with a 49.1 scoring average in nine-hole events. She shot a 97 at the St. Anthony Regional and a 94 at the Taylorville Sectional. Frisbie is making her first appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team.
Sydney Kibler, sr., St. Anthony
Kibler finished her senior season with a 46.5 scoring average in nine-hole events. She shot a 92 at the St. Anthony Regional and a 99 at the Taylorville Sectional. Kibler is making her first appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team.
Addie Krouse, jr., St. Anthony
Krouse finished her junior season with a 40.2 scoring average in nine-hole events. A Class 1A state qualifier, Krouse finished with rounds of 81 and 81 at Decatur’s Red Tail Run Golf Course. She is making her third appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team. Krouse is the Daily News Girls Golfer of the Year.
Makenna Mayhood, soph., Effingham
Mayhood finished her sophomore season with a 48.1 scoring average in nine-hole events. She shot a 101 at the St. Anthony Regional and an 89 at the Taylorville Sectional. Mayhood is making her first appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team.
Elena Niebrugge, sr., Effingham
Niebrugge finished her senior season with a 45.2 scoring average in nine-hole events. She shot an 88 at the St. Anthony Regional and a 96 at the Taylorville Sectional. Niebrugge is making her second appearance on the Daily News Girls Golf All-Area First Team.
Ella Tuman, soph., Effingham
Tuman finished her sophomore season with a 44.6 scoring average in nine-hole events. She shot a 95 at the St. Anthony Regional and a 93 at the Taylorville Sectional.
