MANKATO — Time is running out to help out the Holiday Sharing Tree.
The program helps families and individuals in need during the holidays by coordinating a charitable giving program to purchase gift cards. The gift cards are purchased by community members, then distributed to people who qualified as recipients.
If you’ve already picked up a card, the drop-off deadline is 5 p.m. Sunday. If you haven’t picked up a card, you still can. Cards are available at the following sites: Riverhills Mall Food Court, Fleet Farm, Bomgaars, both Hy-Vee locations in Mankato, North Mankato Taylor Library. St. Peter sites include First National Bank Minnesota, Nutter Clothing and Hy-Vee.
You also can donate online at holidaysharingtree.org. Online donations are used to fill cards that weren’t picked up. Checks or cash donations can be sent to: Holiday Sharing Tree, PO Box 4261, Mankato, MN 56002.
The Holiday Sharing Tree began in 1985 filling the needs of 185 families. Last season the Holiday Sharing Tree helped over 900 families. Since 1985 over 85,000 gifts have been distributed to those in need in Blue Earth and Nicollet counties.
