Shop Small Business Saturday is Nov. 30 and dozens of businesses in Crossville and Cumberland County are participating in a $25 gift card giveaway.
The Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce has been chosen as a neighborhood champion. The Chamber bought a $25 gift card from 25 small businesses that are members of the Chamber for them to give away in a drawing to a shopper that shops with them Nov. 30.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our community. They are our neighbors who provide jobs, services and goods that give us our tight-knit hometown feel. National statistics show that small businesses employ nearly half of all people who hold jobs in the private sector, so it is clear that we owe them a debt of gratitude, and our business, as they are vital to the success of our community and our country,” Melanie Graham of the Chamber said.
Each year the Saturday after Thanksgiving the shop small movement energizes small businesses to prepare for their customers with inventory and bargains. The one-day event continues to grow every year.
“Small Business Saturday reminds us of the prime shopping opportunities right in our own communities. Not only do the small businesses where we work, live and play offer numerous gift-giving possibilities, they are hands-on and ready to complete your shopping list with quality, thoughtful gifts,” Graham said.
