NORTH MANKATO — North Mankato police are reminding people to stop and yield to pedestrians and crossing guards in crosswalks.
Police have received complaints from crossing guards near schools of motorists driving through crosswalks when children and crossing guards with flags are present. Police have stopped and cited motorists with a misdemeanor, which can be a gross misdemeanor if there is a previous conviction.
Police Chief Ross Gullickson said they’ve seen violations in intersections controlled by stop lights and crossing guards and yet motorists who are stopped say they didn’t see anyone.
“Be aware of what’s going on around you,” Gullickson stated in a press release.
