The Pinkerton Academy cross country teams trekked up to Belfast, Maine, for the 88th New England Championships and the Astros brought home some hardware.
Pinkerton’s girls placed third overall in the event with the best runners converging from five of the six New England States.
The Astros finished behind Champlain Valley of Vermont and Oyster River High School of Durham, N.H.
Senior Contessa Silva was the top Astro, placing 21st overall by covering the 5k in 18:35.98.
Freshman Sookie Folsom earned 27th in 18:43.53.
Rounding out the scoring for the Astros were: 60. Isabelle Groulx 19:21.25;
90. Kalisan Marzolf 19:49.42 and 129. Gabrielle Bedard 20:23.91.
The Pinkerton boys were 14th with senior Finn Christensen-Kraft leading the way in 32nd at 16:13.06. Nathan Binda placed 90th in 16:49.40, while sophomore Sean Hayes was at 149th in 17:18.77. Also scoring were: 159. Joseph Gustavson 17:23.84 and 173. Trainor Mailloux 17:32.24.
