HAVERHILL – As a sophomore in 2023, Addy Crosby burst onto the North Andover High hit scene late in the year, including a 4 for 4 state tourney performance against Newton South.
She’s been crushing it ever since.
The Scarlet Knights’ third baseman continued her strong start to the senior season with two more hits and three RBIs on Friday in North Andover’s 9-6 win over Haverhill.
Through four games – North Andover is now 3-1 — Crosby is now hitting an even .400 (6 for 15) with six runs scored and eight RBIs.
“Her swing is so consistent,” said coach Cait Flanagan. “Wherever it’s pitched, she can crush it.”
Massive graduation losses tore the Knights’ lineup apart. Crosby was one of the top returners, coming off a junior campaign in which she hit .435 with 20 RBIs.
It put heat on Crosby to produce, and so far, hitting in one of the power spots, she’s been a rock.
“A lot is expected of me, but I think I’ve dealt with it pretty well. I’ve worked hard and done what I needed to do,” said Crosby.
“We’ve been hitting every single day (in practice), and I think it shows on the field.”
Crosby exhibited her skills on Friday against Haverhill. With two outs and runners on in the decisive five-run North Andover sixth, she fought off a handful of nasty two-strike pitches before getting one she could handle, drilling it into right for an RBI single.
“That was a great at-bat, so typical of who she is as a hitter,” said Flanagan.
Next year, Crosby will head to Quinnipiac and either hang up the spikes or play a little club softball.
Either way, emotion has been injected to the softball equation, and Crosby is using it to her and the Knights’ advantage.
“To me, it just makes me work harder. There’s nothing after this, so I’m just trying to do my best,” she said.
“I think we can (play against anyone), and I think we can do pretty well this year. When we all support each other, we are better.”
