HENDERSON — Minnesota Department of Transportation crews are preparing to remove trees and complete utility projects along local highways in preparation for road construction season.
By law, such projects are scheduled early in the year to prevent protected bats from establishing homes in trees slated for removal.
Crews will begin some time this week on a section of Highway 93 between Henderson and Highway 169.
Motorists will encounter shoulder and intermittent lane closures until the completion of the work in late March. The preliminary work is necessary for a construction project that will raise Highway 93 above the 100-year flood elevation. That project is anticipated to start in April and continue until 2026.
Crews also ae working near Highway 14/Highland Avenue in New Ulm removing trees and brush in preparation for construction of a roundabout. The tree removal will have little impact to traffic and should be completed by Thursday.
