LAKE PLACID — Tess Dumas scattered two hits and struck out nine as NCCS pulled away from Lake Placid, 14-3, Friday.
It wouldn’t start smoothly for the Cougars, as the Bombers held a 1-0 lead going into the third inning.
But, then the bats of NCCS came alive plating two runs and they would go on to score seven unanswered runs before Lake Placid was able to add two.
By then it was all over for the Cougars as Kylee Suprenant and Dumas collected two hits each.
One of Suprenant’s hits was a triple with Lily Natashak adding a double.

ELLENBURG — It was a thrilling contest that slowly got away from the Bobcats. NCCS only collected five hits, but made them quality at bats to win 5-1, Tuesday.
Katelynn Johnston was a terror on the basepaths with a triple and multiple stolen bases on the day. Pitcher Tess Dumas stole a base as well to help her cause, and struck out nine from the mound.
NAC’s stellar defense kept them in the game and Cook battled to keep the Cougars off the board. It wasn’t until the late innings that fatigue wore in and NCCS pounced.
Johnston and Ava Miller led the Cougars with a triple each. Eighth grader Jillian McComb of NAC is already proving to be a power hitter as she had her own triple.
“From our very first practice, the Bobcats have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to refining their skills,” Bobcats head coach Lex Bessette said. “Now that we’re practicing outdoors and the season is in full swing, they continue to impress me with their dedication, teamwork, and ability to make one another laugh.
“This team has it all—powerful hitters, reliable defenders, and, best of all, a genuine love for the game. There isn’t a better group of girls, and I wouldn’t choose anyone else to be on my team. I’m excited to see what the remainder of the season holds for the Bobcats.”
