Cooperstown Police have released the identity of the woman who died in a Nov. 22 house fire.
According to a Nov. 26 news release, the victim is Elizabeth Peck, 89, of Cooperstown.
Police said the cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation by state fire investigators.
Cooperstown police and fire departments were dispatched by Otsego County 911 at about 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 to the fire at 125 Lake St. in the village.
According to an earlier news release, the officer on duty arrived on scene and discovered heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the residence. Cooperstown Fire Department crews arrived shortly after and began to extinguish the fire. In the process of making entry to extinguish the fire, crews found Peck. She was declared dead at the scene.
