As part of the ongoing project to widen and improve State Route 136 (South Jefferson Avenue) in Cookeville, Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close Pigeon Roost Creek Road Monday, March 9, to safely complete work associated with realigning the side road.
The closure is needed for crews to construct a box‑culvert and build the final roadway alignment where Pigeon Roost Creek Road ties into South Jefferson Avenue. TDOT said in a written statement that these activities are essential to completing the project and ensuring long‑term roadway safety and drainage performance.
The closure will remain in place for about eight weeks, weather permitting.
This closure and detour were included in the project’s original contract plans. Pigeon Roost Creek Road was previously closed during earlier phases of work, and this additional closure is required to complete remaining construction.
A signed detour will be in place for the duration of the closure.
