PLATTSBURGH — Do a good turn while listening to good music is a twofor at 6:30 p.m. July 22 at the Strawhatters Benefit Concert for the Plattsburgh Interfaith Food Shelf.
“Knowing how rising food costs are impacting many people in the county, Strawhatters thought it would be good to have a concert to benefit the Interfaith Food Shelf,” Jeanette Woodruff, director, said.
The event will be held on the front lawn of the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church, which is located at 127 Beekman St.
“The Interfaith Council of Plattsburgh and Clinton County is very pleased to have this offer for our Interfaith Food Shelf from The Strawhatters,” Bonnie Black, council president, said. “They typically do summer concerts in conjunction with various congregations, and this July 22, there will be a concert on the front lawn of the United Methodist Church. Bring your own lawn chair, sit under a shady tree, and enjoy the sounds of the Strawhatters. Bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation or check make out to the Interfaith Food Shelf.”
The Food Shelf, which is located at PUMC, is open from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 4-6 p.m. Friday to all Clinton County residents.
“We know that with all the news that we’ve been hearing, it will probably be impacting our Interfaith Food Shelf come fall when people might begin to lose some of their benefits,” Black said. “Things are just getting tighter and tighter for everyone. As an emergency Food Shelf, we know that people access us only once or twice a year for the most part. It’s when they really, really need food, and we’re more than happy to be able to provide that when people are hungry.”
