MANKATO — Area residents observing Ramadan are inviting community members to participate in an Iftar meal 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Wisdom House of Mankato, 222 E. Walnut St.
Muslims who are abstaining from meals during the daytime hours will break their fasts during the dinner at the mosque. Food and information about traditions and Ramadan will be shared with non-Muslim attendees.
Reservations are not needed to attend the 7-8:30 p.m. event co-sponsored by the Greater Mankato Diversity Council.
The following etiquette tips may be helpful to non-Muslim attendees when they are indoors at the mosque: Men and women should wear clothing that is modest, maintain a quiet and respectful demeanor, avoid crossing in front of people who are praying and avoid taking photographs of participants without their permission.
Ramadan began March 10 and concludes Tuesday.
