First Day Hike 2025. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Point Au Roche State Park, 19 Camp Red Cloud Road, Plattsburgh. Welcome in the New Year by exploring the nature trails. There will be two hikes available: a 3 mile hike, and a 1 mile walk at slower pace. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Bird Walk with Champlain Area Trails. 9 to 10:30 a.m., Point Au Roche State Park, 19 Camp Red Cloud Road, Plattsburgh. Join an easy walk to search for some of the birds that stick around in the winter. All abilities welcome. Bring your own binoculars, or borrow one of a few pairs available to loan — first come, first served.

Algonquin Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club. 7 p.m., 2nd Floor Auditorium, Old Clinton County Courthouse, Margaret St., Plattsburgh. Presentation by physicians Bruce Kokernot and Wendy Gilchrist who have volunteered in Nepaleese and Indian hospitals in Nepal for over 60 years at 7 p.m., club business meeting to follow at 8 p.m.

Family Scavenger Hunt. 10 to 11 a.m., Point Au Roche State Park, 19 Camp Red Cloud Road, Plattsburgh. Join a guided scavenger hunt along the trails of the park. All ages and abilities are welcome. Walk will be approximately 1 mile on easy trails. You can also pick up a scavenger hunt at the Nature Center to do with your family anytime.
