Lions Club hosts Chili Day dinner
The Danville Lions Club annual Chili Day is set for Monday, March 2 at the St. James United Methodist Church, located at 504 N. Vermilion Street in Danville.
Chili will be served from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for dine-in or carryout orders.
Cost is $8 at the door. Individuals are asked to bring used eye glasses and hearing ads.

Meeting set for retired teachers
The Vermilion County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6 at DACC Bremer Conference Center. All former and recent retirees are welcome to attend.
Lunch will be catered by the DACC Culinary Department and the cost is $16. The program will be a presentation by Sue Richter regarding the Vermilion County Bicentennial Celebration this year.

Coffee Talk at Hoopeston Library
Illinois Extension and OMNI 4 All will be hosting Coffee Talk at the Hoopeston Public Library, located at 110 N. Fourth St. in Hoopeston.
This three-part series will teach participants on eating to support cognitive function, medication safety, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and general brain health education.
Sessions will be held 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the first Thursday of the month from March to May.
The first session, slated for March 5, will be Nutrition for Brain Health. Then it will be Medication Safety on April 2. The series will conclude with Brain Health on May 7.
Coffee will be provided by the Hoopeston Public Library.

VFW holds meatball sub dinner
The Fountain County Old Guard VFW Post 2395, located at 1212 Liberty Street in Covington, Ind., is having a meatball sub dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday, March 6. The meal includes a meatball sub, pasta salad, potato salad and a bag of chips. Cost is $8 for veterans and $10 for the general public.
After the dinner, the Post will host a Glow Bingo event sponsored by the Covington Swim Club.
Cost is $25 and all proceeds support the club’s activities.
War museum hosts fourth “Fireside Chat”
The fourth installment of the Vermilion County War Museum’s First Saturday “Fireside Chat” series will be “Threads of Liberty – Part 2” on Saturday, March 7.
The program is a follow-up to last month’s event and will focus on Early American uniforms and equipment. It will be presented by Jeremy Brady and Ron Bolser.

Class of 1957 meets for lunch
The Danville High School Class of 1957 will be meeting for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16.
The lunch will be held at Jocko’s, located at 305 W. Williams St. in Danville.
The next luncheon is scheduled for June 15 at Jocko’s.
City yard waste stickers available
DANVILLE — The City of Danville Public Works Yard Waste Division announces that 2026 Yard Waste Stickers are available for purchase now. Stickers are priced at $40 each and may be purchased in person or by phone (debit or credit card accepted; processing fees may apply) at the City of Danville Public Works and the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building.
Please note that only City-approved containers displaying a valid 2026-yard waste sticker will be collected during designated toter-only collection periods. A collection schedule and brochure outlining program guidelines will be provided with each sticker purchase.

Expo set for Fountain County
The Covington Business Association will be hosting its fourth annual Home, Garden and Business Expo from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (Eastern) on Saturday, March 21 at the Fountain County Fairgrounds, in Veedersburg, Ind.

Horizon offers free CPR/AED Class
Horizon Health is offering a free Heartsaver CPR/AED course from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 13 at its Chrisman Clinic, located at 112 West Madison Avenue in Chrisman.
This non-healthcare provider course is for the community and teaches basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), which is used in cases of life-threatening cardiac events. An official CPR/AED certification card from the American Heart Association is optional for $25.
This course does not include first aid, which can be arranged separately.

It will be refunded upon completion of the course, unless the participant chooses to purchase an optional American Heart Association certification card.

Applications are now being accepted for the 35th annual Covington Apple Fest to be held on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Spaces are limited for this event so we are encouraging securing your booth placement early.

Events set for Westville Library
The Westville Public Library has announced multiple events for the month of March.
The March Movie Matinee will be at 2 p.m., Thursday March 4. The movie will be “Song Sung Blue.”
During the week of March 16-20, the library will hosting a Spring Break Craft Week. There will b a craft available every day that you do at the library or take home.
The second annual Stuff Sleepover is set for Wednesday, March 18. Kids can drop off their stuffy to spend the night with the library’s stuffies. Drop off is set for 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. that day. Pickup is set for 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. Breakfast, consisting of a donut and a drink will be available. Individuals unable to make breakfast can still pick up their stuffy until 6 p.m. that day.
An Art Roulette program for adults is set for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21.
This program, hosted by Friends of the Westville Library, is for those 18-and-over. Individuals will paint on their canvas for 15 minutes, pass it to the next person, who will then add their creative touch, and so on.
The cost is $10 person for materials and a light lunch. Please call 217-267-3170 to reserve your spot.
CRIS Senior Services will be at the library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 to introduce a new program and discuss services already available.
