MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County wrestling team finished fourth in the Region 1-7A duals held Saturday at Camden County and will not advance to state championships.
Only the top two teams at the region meet will go to Buford on Jan. 19-20 and vie for the state title.
Nine-time defending state duals champion Camden County will advance as the region title-holder after getting 298 points on its home mats on Saturday.
Lowndes will go as the region runner-up. The Vikings scored 207.5 points.
Richmond Hill was third with 151 points. Colquitt had 138; Valdosta 110.
The Packers has three second-place finishers.
Michael Bledsoe, at 144; Russell Flowers, at 150; and Matthew Dillon, at 215, each reached the first-place match, but fell to Camden County opponents.
Bledsoe won his first match, pinning Richmond Hill’s Miller Osteen, but then dropped a 10-0 major decision to Camden’s Gavin Daniels.
Flowers won by forfeit over Richmond Hill’s Bradley Barrett before Camden’s Ryan Banister defeated him in a sudden victory in the first-place match.
Dillon took a 6-3 semifinal decision over Dallas Edwards of Lowndes before being pinned by Camden’s Dustin Edenfield.
Eric Henson, at 126; Bill Lawton, at 138; and Turk Daniels, at 285, won their third-place matches.
Henson won two of his three bouts.
After pinning Valdosta’s Cedell Witherspoon in the quarterfinal, he was pinned by Ethan McCullough of Lowndes.
He drew a bye in the consolation semifinal and then took an 11-7 decision over Richmond Hill’s Roman Slaughter.
Lawton dropped an 8-5 decision to Valdosta’s Zyion Lee and pinned Richmond Hill’s Areze Barnett to reach the third-place match, where he pinned Camden’s Waylon Dozier.
After receiving a bye in the quarterfinal, Daniels dropped a 7-1 decision to Camden’s Jesse Batten in the semi-final.
Daniels finished with pins of Richmond Hill’s Louisguens Valssaint and Valdosta’s Langston Womack.
Britton Marshall, at 120; Anthony Duque, at 132; Trenton Dunbar, at 165; and Jean Garcia, at 190, all took fourth-place finishes.
