MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating a shooting that happened in rural Colquitt County about 1 p.m. Saturday.
The sheriff’s office identified the victim as 19-year-old Sahara Alarcon.
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, a woman reported to law enforcement that her daughter had been shot. The woman stated that she was transporting her daughter to the hospital in a personal vehicle, the sheriff’s office said in a press release Monday.
First responders and law enforcement officers made contact with the woman and her daughter, Sahara Alarcon, on Coolsprings Road, the press release said.
Deputies, first responders, and EMS personnel began rendering aid to her, and she was transported to a hospital via ambulance. She remains in critical but stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office has requested the assistance of the GBI in the investigation.
