MANKATO — Kylie Sullivan’s two-run walkoff double in the seventh inning of the opener highlighted Minnesota State’s sweep of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference softball doubleheader Saturday.
Scores were 9-8 and 5-3.
In the opener, Sullivan finished with four RBIs, including the game-winning double. Marina Carter and Courtney Kessler each had three hits, and Gianna Lara had two RBIs.
Maddie Oetzmann was the winning pitcher in relief.
In Game 2, Maddie Helin had a home run and two RBIs, and Cheyenne Behrends also had two RBIs. Lara had two hits and an RBI.
Oetzmann got the win again, and McKayla Armbruster finished for the save.
Minnesota State (32-8, 12-2) plays at Concordia-St. Paul on Wednesday.
Baseball: The Mavericks swept Minot State 14-12 and 16-5 in seven innings in a Northern Sun doubleheader at Bowyer Field.
Louis Magers and Ryan Wickman each hit a home run in the opener. Jake Matthaidess was the winning pitcher in relief.
In Game 2, Zach Stroh and Nick Baker combined for six hits and six RBIs. Mack Crowley pitched four innings to get the win.
Minnesota State (18-11, 14-5) hosts Winona State on Wednesday.
Women’s golf: The Mavericks shot 327 in the opening round and sit in second place at the Upper Iowa Invitational, being played at Waterloo, Iowa.
Winona State leads at 326, led by Carly Moon’s 76.
Victoria Woytassek is in second with a six-over-par 78. Kelly Winter shot 81 and is in fourth, while Samantha Youngquist is tied for fifth at 83.
The tournament concludes Sunday.
Women’s tennis: Senior Chiara Carnelutti dropped just two games in singles and doubles to cap Senior Day in a 7-0 victory over Bemidji State at Swanson Tennis Center.
Carnelutti teamed with Daria Podmogilnaia for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles. The Mavericks then swept singles, including a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 by Freia Lawrence and a 6-2, 6-0 performance at No. 2 from Carnelutti.
The Mavericks (9-6, 7-2) compete in the NSIC tourney April 26 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Track and field: Stephanie Witbrod placed third in the heptathlon at South Dakota. She took first in the shot put at 11.85 meters and long jump at 5.6 meters.
The rest of the team competed at the Norse Invitational at Decorah, Iowa.
Aaron Stewart won the 100-meter dash in 10.80 and the 200 dash in 21.77. Andrew Rethemeyer, Benjamin Phillips, Moudjibou Bolarinwa and Josiah Hope finished third in the 4×100 relay.
Cassiday Gibson had a pair of top-10 performances, placing sixth in the high jump at 1.55 meters and sixth in the javelin throw at 34.36 meters. Anna Schwartz also took sixth in the pole vault at 2.60 meters.
Naomi Anderson finished eighth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.60, and Jordan Merwin took eighth in the 3,000 steeplechase in 12:52.25.
Gustavus Adolphus
Track and field: The women’s team took first, and the men’s team was second at the Norse Invitational at Decorah, Iowa.
In the 100-meter dash, Kate Carlson took first in 12:37, and Megan Geraets won the 200 dash in 24.84 and long jump at 17-8 3/4.
Molly Liston placed first in the 5,000 run in 18:18.96. Lakesha Carter set a meet record in the javelin throw by throwing 127-5.
For the men, Logan McCullough won the 10,000 run in 32:34.58.
Kelley Brennan set a meet record by winning the weight throw at 162-3.
The Gusties will compete at the Bethel Invitational on Saturday.
