MORRISONVILLE — “We’re all still kids when we come to the fair,” Clinton County Fair Manager Mike Perrotte said.
From carnival rides and games to tractor pulling and a demolition derby, the line up at the fair this year has something for everyone and fun for the whole family.
“I think it’s our best fair lineup overall in years,” Perrotte said, emphasizing the focus on affordability and local participation.
FARMING FRIENDS
The fair will feature a large selection of animals, including horses, cows, chickens and goats.
“Just a lot of ag stuff. We focused on that,” he said. “Our 4-H and our FFA (Future Farmers of America) departments are really strong, and our biggest draw last year was the sea lions.”
Events and competitions with the animals will take place every day of the fair.
ENTERTAINMENT
Grandstand events include three nights of music with performances by country artist Cooper Alan on Monday; local musician and recent competitor on The Voice Liam Von Elbe, with special guest Taylor LaValley, Tuesday; and Richie & The High Street Rockers on July 17.
The fairground center stage and gazebo, as well as the saloon, will have live music by local bands throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
There will also be a comedy show July 18.
Two new rides will join the line up of carnival amusement, one ride for children and one for adults.
TRACTOR PULLS
This year the fair will have two tractor pulls, one led by the New York State Tractor Pullers Association on Wednesday and one with the Adirondack Tractor Pullers on July 17.
Both will take place at the grandstand.
“We’ve partnered with the NYTPA before, and we’re excited to welcome them back to the fairgrounds,” Perrotte said in a press release.
“Not only do they put on a great show that’s exciting for all ages, but they’re an organization that’s based in New York and is passionate about sharing their love of the sport with each community they visit.”
MORE FUN AT THE FAIR
The event will also include a farmers and crafters market with local vendors according to Perrotte, as well as a variety of food trucks and carnival food vendors.
Perrotte said the fair’s atmosphere makes it a great place to catch up with old friends.
“It’s just fun, you know. My favorite aspect is it’s just fun,” he said. “And seeing people having fun and kids having fun, big kids and little kids, because we’re all still kids when we come to the fair.”
The 78th annual Clinton County Agricultural and Industrial Fair starts Monday and runs through 18.
Daily gate admission is $10 and free for children under 12. A wristband, $35, grants access to rides all day. A season ticket is $40.
