City police investigate apparent suicide at railroad bridge

City police Chief Steven Abbott confirmed that a man in his early 40s fell from the railroad bridge over the Erie Canal on Friday.
The individual’s name was withheld. Abbott said there was at least one witness to the incident, which he said is an apparent suicide. Abbott said the man was found dead at the scene.
A police investigation into the death is ongoing.
