Niagara Falls city officials say a mysterious orange substance emanating from the ground near the LaSalle Boat docks isn’t a threat.
A release on the matter doesn’t state what the substance could be, but it does say that the state DEC has tested samples of the substance and not found any hazardous chemicals.
City officials say the DEC has advised them it is not leaching from Love Canal.
Falls officials also say it is not a new phenomenon and the DEC annually tests and monitors the situation.
“While it is an unusual appearance, the DEC is and continues to monitor and test to be sure that remains the case.”
