CUMBERLAND — A city man was jailed early Friday awaiting a district court hearing after he allegedly assaulted and threatened to shoot people during a disturbance on Knox Street, according to Cumberland Police.
Tracy Kerry Williams, 38, was arrested by officers who had earlier responded to an attempted burglary in the 200 block of Pear Street. Williams was being sought in connection with that incident before police encountered him during the Knox Street investigation.
Williams was jailed on various charges, including threat of mass violence, four counts of intoxicated endangerment and second-degree assault, attempted fourth-degree burglary and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Police said Williams “threatened to return with a firearm” during the Knox Street incident prior to being arrested and taken into custody.
