CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Thursday morning fire at a vacant Williams Street residence was intentionally set, state fire investigators said.
One firefighter was taken to UPMC Western Maryland for treatment of heat exhaustion and dehydration after fighting the 10:30 a.m. blaze at 314 Williams.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said there were two areas where fire was started.
The two-story home, owned by Paul and Kathryn Morrissey, suffered about $2,000 damage.
About 30 firefighters from Cumberland Fire Department and volunteer first responders from Allegany County and Mineral County, West Virginia, controlled the blaze in about 15 minutes, the fire marshal’s office said.
