PLATTSBURGH — Friday is the official opening of the Plattsburgh City Beach for the 2025 season.
This year, several upgrades have been made to enhance the experience and parking permits can now be obtained online.
“With summer around the corner, we are ready to welcome the community back to the lake,” a city press release said.
PARKING AND ACCESS
City of Plattsburgh residents can enjoy free parking at the City Beach parking lot with a valid beach parking permit.
Beginning May 20, residents must apply online at https://plattsburgh.thepermitportal.com.
Permits are fully digital, no physical hang tags, stickers, or mailed passes will be issued. Permits will not be available at City Hall, Town Hall, or at the beach entrance. Once approved, the vehicle’s license plate will be registered in the City’s parking system, and proof of residency is required during the application process.
Town of Plattsburgh residents are eligible for a discounted seasonal parking pass at a rate of $30. Non-residents may either pay a daily parking fee of $13 or purchase a seasonal pass for $60.
Vehicles with valid handicap permits may park in designated spaces for free.
Paid parking is enforced Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no fee for beach admission, only for parking. Those who wish to park for free can do so in the overflow parking lot on the northern portion of the beach property at the former parking lot for the Crete Center.
Those who require assistance in obtaining a beach permit, contact the Parking Office at 518-563-3411 to schedule an appointment.
