PLATTSBURGH — Chazy’s second-half effort helped propel the visitors to a 54-44 win over Seton Catholic in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys basketball on Friday.
Cooper Cross finished with a game-high 26 points to go along with 18 markers from Josh Juneau.
The Eagles kept the Knights quiet and out of sync in the second half with their 2-3 zone and attacked in transition.
“Chazy played with more energy than us tonight,” Seton Catholic coach Larry Converse said. “It was one of those games where our shots were not falling, and we did not take care of the basketball like we should.”
Oliver Hughes (19) and Michael Mannix (18) combined for 37 points to pace the Knights.

INDIAN LAKE/LONG LAKE 58, OT
LONG LAKE — It was all tied up at the end of regulation.
Lake Placid would go on a 14-7 run to defeat Indian Lake/Long Lake, 65-58.
It’s also a countdown for the Bombers’ Seb Cecunjanin. He scored 31 points, with six in overtime, to finish the night at 998 career points. It would have been Monday’s contest against Chazy that he would crack the 1000 mark, but weather postponed that game until a later date.
Cecunjanin will go for the mark, Wednesday as Schroon Lake/Newcomb pays a visit to the friendly confines.
Caleb Wylie added 10 points for Lake Placid as he and Brendan Murphy combined to go 4-4 from the charity stripe in the extra frame.
The Orange were led by Griffin Farr’s double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. He was two steals shy of a triple-double.

SCHROON LAKE/NEWCOMB 75
LOUDONVILLE CHRISTIAN 71, OT
LOUDONVILLE — In a game it’s all about making adjustments, and Schroon Lake/Newcomb did just that.
The Wild Huskies would go on to win in overtime, 75-71 over Loudonville Christian, Saturday.
Four players recorded double digits for SL/N, led by Nathan Melville’s 22. Austin Hartwell and Josiah Melville added 19 and 15 points, respectively.
The biggest surprise came from Daniel Pelkey who came off the bench in the second half to score 13, including a dagger three in the extra period.
“This weekend we were on the road against the top Section 2 class D team and state ranked #11,” Wild Huskies coach Lee Silvernail said. “They have a really small gym and it’s a tough place to get a win.
“We had to make some second half adjustments to attack their pressure zone defense. We inserted 8th grader Daniel Pelkey into the lineup in the 2nd half and that paid off, he scored 13 second half points including a big three pointer in overtime.”

PLATTSBURGH 51
PLATTSBURGH — The Hornets held a seven point lead going into the break but couldn’t hold on in a 62-51 loss to Ogdensburg Free Academy.
Dan Hartmann led Plattsburgh with 28 points. Bobby Kemokai added 10 in the valiant effort to fight through the adversity.
The Blue Devils had three players reach double figures led by Ian Rose’s 20 points. Grady Pharoah added 15 with Blake Morrill adding 13.
“It was a tale of two halves,” PHS coach Chris Hartmann said. “Our defense was outstanding in the first half and Dan Hartmann did a great job on Rose, limiting him to four points.
“We got tired in the second half, OFA set a lot of screens on Dan and our mental lapses then led to open shots.
“Pharoah had a great game for OFA and Rose found his touch in the second half. Dan obviously had a big game again today but we need to find a third scorer.”
