CHAZY — Chazy played an all around game to defeat Seton Catholic, 48-11, Thursday.
“We had 20 steals tonight as a team,” Chazy head coach Josh Howell said. “Stephanie Barriere led the way with five steals. Peyton Turek turned in another great defensive effort with six rebounds, two steals and three blocks. Calleigh Clark, one point shy of a double double, with nine points and 10 rebounds.”
The Eagles were led by Emma Howell’s 15 points, all of which came from behind the arc. Kaelyn Dunbar added 11 with three threes. Altogether, Chazy made 10 three-pointers during the game.
“The girls have been working really hard in practice,” Josh Howell said. “And we talk a lot about getting defensive stops, and the girls have bought into and are executing defensively and playing with a lot of energy and effort. Daylen Willette for Seton played an outstanding game. She made us work really hard to get anything inside offensively, but we had good balance, knocking down 10 three pointers in the game.”

CROWN POINT 71
BOQUET VALLEY 37
CROWN POINT — After a 0-3 start and a struggling offense, Brady Pelkey scored 26 first half points, including 19 in the second quarter to power Crown Point past visiting Boquet Valley, 71-37.
“We have been slow starting and really struggling scoring the ball in our first three games, so it was nice to see the lid come off the basket tonight,” Crown Point head coach Jason Hughes said. “We put a huge emphasis on a fast start, but I was not expecting this.
“I think it was 16-0 in our favor to start the game, just a dream start, with a bunch of guys contributing early and scoring the ball. Brady goes wild in the second quarter, scoring 19, hitting five threes, and the rout was on.”
Pelkey wasn’t alone as Tyler Bowman finished with 13 and JJ Kimball chipped in 11.
Carson Leibeck led the Griffins with a team-high nine points, and he was a point of emphasis, Hughes said.
“We know that Carson Leibeck is tough, he has killed us in the last couple of meetings with these guys, but our zone was good tonight, he said. “We kept enough pressure on him to get the ball out of his hands, and we were lucky that the other guys did not hit shots. We shared the ball well tonight, we got out in transition and finally finished. and we were able to get everyone in the game.
Boquet is a tough team. They played really hard, and Jacob Spelman is a big boy down on the block. We were fortunate that they struggled from the field tonight and we shot it well. Owen Carey played well in his first career start, and the rest of our supporting guys were great off the bench.”
