ELIZABETHTOWN — The Chazy and Boquet Valley girls’ basketball teams waged a high-scoring battle on Friday, with the Eagles emerging with a 62-60 win in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference play.
Carly LaPierre poured in 20 points to pace the Eagles. Emma Howell added 13 points and Kaelyn Rentas had 12 as the two combined to hit eight three-pointers.
Ella Lobdell paced the Griffins with 19 points, while Emily Hickey followed with 16.
Chazy held a 28-22 lead at the half before Boquet Valley rallied for a 41-37 advantage after three. The Eagles, however, used a 26-point fourth quarter to pull out the close win.

PERU — Reese Duprey poured in 30 points, including 16 from the foul line, as the Nighthawks outlasted the visitors in a non-conference game.
Kieonna Christmas tallied 21 points for Fonda-Fultonville.
“Fonda-Fultonville was a great team for us to face,” Peru coach Brittany Marshall said. “Our press worked quite well today — we were able to force several turnovers.
“Christmas is a phenomenal player and Bella Berry guarded her very well defensively. Reese Duprey had an amazing game, shooting 16-of-19 from the foul line on the way to her 30 points. She battled hard offensively and picked up some key steals to contribute defensively.
“I was very proud of the energy and efforts for all of our girls today.”

“We settled the game down in the second half,” Bolton coach Luke Schweickert said.
“Keene is well coached defensively and defends the floor from end to end.”
Juliana Trembly paced Keene with 10 points.
