KEYSER, W.Va. — Charges are pending in the Monday evening high-speed chase in Keyser’s Airport Addition that left a mother and child hospitalized, according to Keyser Police Chief Jared Bruce.
The incident began as a domestic disturbance on Ward Avenue when a silver SUV — recognized by responding Keyser Police officers from previous contacts — was seen speeding away from the scene about 7 p.m.
Officers tried to stop the suspect vehicle that reportedly sped through an intersection and continued onto Baker Street where it struck a utility pole and crashed into a 2021 Ford Bronco operated by a woman with her child as a passenger, police said.
The occupants of both vehicles were initially taken to Potomac Valley Hospital, with two being transferred to UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland. The injured child was transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Children’s Hospital in Morgantown for further treatment, police said.
Bruce said additional information would be disclosed as the investigation continues.
