PLATTSBURGH — Three different classes set their teams for their respective championships, Tuesday. The home teams, or rather the higher seed, took the victory as no upsets happened in the five games that took place.
In Class A, Plattsburgh High advanced after defeating Peru to face Beekmantown, Friday at 6 p.m.
Class C saw Moriah and Northern Adirondack set themselves up for a clash on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The bracket that started it all, Class D girls, had its bracket remain chalk as top seed Chazy sets off to face second seed Boquet Valley, in Saturday’s final game at 7:30 p.m.

#4 BOLTON 34
CHAZY — Carly LaPierre scored a game-high 17 points and added 10 rebounds to lead top-seeded Chazy in the D finals.
Emma Howell added 13 points, Sam Gonyo-Lafountain eight points, eight rebounds and six steals, and Kassidy Turek seven points, six rebounds and five assists.
“It’s a hard climb to get to the championship game and I’m just so proud of the girls and how they played tonight,” Chazy coach Josh Howell said. “We had a great crowd and, after some early nerves, the girls settled into the game.
“A strong second quarter allowed us to build a double-digit lead going into the half. We were able to continue that momentum into the third quarter and we were able to answer the bell every time Bolton tried to make a run to get back into the game.”
Maillie Kelley accounted for 16 of Bolton’s 34 points.
“Bolton had a great season and I know their coach (Luke Schweickert) is really proud of his team,” Howell said. “His team pushed through some adversity with injuries to key players throughout the season.
“Bolton is a very young team that gained some valuable experience playing at the varsity level. They will be a team with championship aspirations over the next couple of years.”

NORTHERN ADIRONDACK 54
TICONDEROGA 50
ELLENBURG — The rubber match always sets up to be exciting, and both teams knew it would be a slugfest between the Bobcats and Sentinels.
“We knew it was going to be a tough contest tonight,” NAC’s coach Nate Bilow said. “We outplayed them last week, but that had no bearing on tonight’s game.”
NAC would retake the lead late in the third quarter and hold on to defeat Ti, 54-50.
The Bobcats would jump out to an early 13-2 lead only to see the Sentinels counter with 19 points in the second quarter to cut the deficit to three heading into the break.
Tommy Montalbano had a game high 21, which included 10 points in the second quarter spurt. His hot scoring continued into the third quarter where he nailed three threes. One came from the corner with five minutes to go in the period that gave Ti its first lead of the game.
NAC’s Caleb Darmour finished with 10 points. His most important bucket came after Ti took the lead, as he scored on the next possession to retake the lead for the host.
The Sentinels remained within striking distance of retaking the lead throughout the remainder of the game, but were never able to make the key basket.
Kingston Tucker led the Bobcats with 19 points and four assists. Patrick Benware added six points and rebounds in the winning effort.
Ti shot the lights out beyond the arc, which kept them in the game, making 10. Bilow said his team wasn’t able to defend the perimeter and the Sentinels paid them for it.
“I’m happy for the team,” Bilow said. “That’s a big win for us. I know we were the higher seed, but that meant very little obviously.
“That was a pretty good high school game and both teams played hard.”

PLATTSBURGH 80
PERU 54
PLATTSBURGH — It’s awfully tough to defeat a team three times in a season, but Plattsburgh was able to do that against Peru. The third matchup saw the Hornets pull away to win 80-54.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle as Peru hit baskets early and often to keep things interesting. Gradually, the Hornets began scoring in transition and making some distance with a 42-30 halftime lead.
Once the second half began, it was all Plattsburgh as four players recorded double digits in scoring.
Dan Hartmann had a game high 18 points as Logan Rodriguez added 16. Cayden Williams and Max Filosca added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Hunter Eagle and Morgan McCormick led the Nighthawks with 13 points each. Kobe Harris added 10.
“Peru had us on our heels off the tip and they shot the ball well,” Hornets head coach Chris Hartmann said. “Once we picked up our defense and were able to get out in transition, things quickly changed for the better for us.
“We made some great extra passes tonight and once again played unselfish basketball. Peru is much improved from the start of the season and we look forward to facing Beekmantown on Friday for the Section VII Championship.”
