NEWBURYPORT — David Yang, artistic director of the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival, will visit “The Morning Show” on Thursday to discuss highlights of the upcoming festival, which runs from Aug. 5-15.
Host Mary Jacobsen will talk with Yang, a co-founder of NCMF, about the keys to the festival’s growth and popularity as it enters its 25th year of bringing world-class musicians to the North Shore.
Yang will discuss how he curates each year’s festival offerings, which this year includes guest artists such as the Miro String Quartet, Metropolitan Opera soprano Lucy Shelton and pianist Kenny Broberg.
They will perform works by classical composers such as Mozart, Haydn, Shostakovich, Felix Mendelssohn and contemporary and returning composer Jon Deak, who will offer a world premiere composition paired with works by poet-in-residence Rhina Espaillat.
Yang will also describe diverse additional NCMF events that include storytelling for families in conjunction with Theater in the Open, a Nachtmusik concert held in complete darkness, and Hausmusiks, or unscripted sight-reading parties held in local living rooms.
