TRAVERSE CITY β Residents close to Cherry Capital Airport saw a plume of black smoke near the airfield.
But where there was smoke, Kevin Klein, CEO of Cherry Capital Airport, said there was no fire.
Klein confirmed that there were no flames at or near the airfield on Sunday, and that the smoke’s origin was a de-icing truck that expelled black smoke when started up.
He said there was no damage, and no one was hurt.
βThe airline shut it down and they will have a mechanic look at the vehicle,β Klein said.
As winter approaches, de-icing trucks are prepped and readied for anticipated flurries.
