LIMESTONE COUNTY — Limestone County once again ranks as the Fastest-Growing County in the State of Alabama, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Vintage 2023 estimates of population and components of change released on March 14, 2024.
Data indicates that Limestone County has approximately 114,654 residents (as compared to 103,565 in 2020), making Limestone the 11th largest county in the state growing at a 10.7 percent rate last year as compared to Jefferson (662,895 residents), Madison (412,600) and Mobile (411,640). Of those top three, Madison and Mobile counties were growing, at 2.2 percent and 0.1 percent respectively in the last year.
Leaders in Limestone are pleased with the growth they are seeing.

Other voices outside of Limestone agree. Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association President & CEO Tami Reist said newcomers are attracted to the area for several reasons.
“The affordable cost of living, healthy business environment, numerous outdoor recreation opportunities and their Main Street area is one of the best,” said Reist.
