HAMPSTEAD — Whether it is the companionship of a dear cat or dog, the site of an eagle flying along the Merrimack River or a cute video of a baby elephant, animals can touch our lives in countless ways.
In that spirit, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Hampstead is hosting some special events to remember the Patron Saint of Animals, St. Francis of Assisi, on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Pre-K to elementary-aged kids will enjoy a visit at 10 a.m. with six tiny creatures from Wildlife Encounters Ecology and Wellness Center, such as, possibly a chinchilla or an armadillo.
The blessing of animals will start at noon in the church parking lot with a short set of prayers followed by the blessings. You do not need to be a church member or Episcopalian to bring an animal for a blessing. All people and critters are welcome.
If you’re worried about your pet or animal in social settings, you are welcome to stay with your animal at your vehicle in the parking lot and signal to the priest to walk over for a blessing.
You can also bring a photo of your animal for a blessing.
St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is located at 187 East Road. For more information, call 603-329-4674 or email vicarstchristophers@gmail.com.
