East Veterans Elementary School celebrated International Pi Day, which is held every year on March 14 (3/14), with a competition and parade.
For the Pi Day celebration, East Veterans first- through fifth-graders were challenged with memorizing as many numbers of pi as possible.
Pi, 3.141592, is the irrational number and mathematical constant for the circumference of a circle divided by its diameter. No matter how big or small the circle, the ratio of the circumference to its diameter always comes out to pi, which is shortened to 3.14. As an irrational number, it’s also never ending without repetition.
A parade at the school, home of the Blue Sharks, followed the competition.
