Hamilton-Wenham’s soccer teams took care of the Cape Ann League’s Baker division this fall. So naturally the Generals took home both of the league’s Player of the Year honors.
Savannah Gauron and Nick Stein were voted boys and girls Players of the Year by the coaches of the CAL recently after leading Hamilton-Wenham to league championships.
The high-scoring, creative Gauron helped the Generals complete their third straight unbeaten regular season. Her dad, Matt Gauron, was chosen as CAL Baker boys Coach of the Year as well with H-W’s Nancy Waddell being voted Coach of the Year on the girls side to make it a Hamilton-Wenham sweep of the Baker’s major awards.
All-Conference selections for the Generals’ girls were creative midfielder Dusty Romiza and ace defender Emmy Pitkin. For the boys, senior midfielder Owen Waddell was voted All-Conference along with senior defender Ryan Fazio.
From Ipswich, both sophomore forward Michael Queen and senior keeper Finn Wright earned All-Conference nods.
The boys Kinney honors went to Lynnfield’s Rocco Scenna (Player of the Year) and North Reading’s Mark Bisognano (Coach of the Year) with league champion North Reading getting the sportsmanship award. Manchester Essex got the Baker sportsmanship award.
Other boys All-CAL selections were Amesbury’s Maxx Rodrigues, Georgetown’s Zach Pinkham, Lynnfield’s Mohammed Ayari, Newburyport’s Jack Burns, Davi Leao, Gavin Wesley and Asher Schulz of North Reading, Matt Silva and Jake LaCroix of Pentucket and a pair from Rockport in Zakarya Bouafi and Flynn Blanchard.
The girls Kinney award winners were co-Players of the Year Alison Lanciani (North Reading) and Giada Antidormi (Lynnfield) with Lynnfield’s Mark Vermont being voted Coach of the Year. Sportsmanship awards went to Essex Tech, Lynnfield and Newburyport.
