Cape Ann Animal Aid is taking part in a national promotion where people can pay what they can afford to adopt adult animals with special needs or extended stays at the shelter.
For the month of August, the shelter is taking part in NBCUniversal’s “Clear the shelters” effort where NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations partner with animal shelters and rescues across the country to raise money and help animals get adopted.
At Cape Ann Animal Aid, more than 30 adult animals with special needs or extended shelter stays will be featured in the “name your price” promotion which allows people to pay what they can and still adopt a pet.
The shelter is taking the promotion one step further by offering a $200 reimbursement for professional dog training, and six months of flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives for any dog adopted as part of the promotion.
Also being offered is one year of insulin and a $200 reimbursement for diabetes care for anyone who adopts London, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair/mix diabetic cat.
Not all animals at Cape Ann Animal Aid are eligible for the promotion. Anyone interested in adopting an animal as part of the promotion should visit capeannanimalaid.org for more information.
“We want to remove as many barriers as possible for the animals who need us most,” said Cape Ann Animal Aid Executive Director Sunniva Buck. “These pets have so much love to give, and we hope that by making adoption more accessible, and providing additional resources to help families succeed, we can help more of them make that journey from shelter to home.”
