CRESAPTOWN — Calvary won its home opener on Friday, sweeping Broadfording, 3-0.
The Eagles (2-0, 2-0 Mason-Dixon Christian Conference) won with scores of 25-9, 25-5 and 25-13.
“Our serves dominated the Broadfording passers tonight,” Calvary head coach John Wall said. “We were just hitting all of our serves. We only missed four serves all night and when the ball did come back, we just played system ball and put the ball away.”
Allie Maust recorded a double-double with 15 assists, 13 points, nine aces and a kill.
Madie Robinette led Calvary with six kills, adding eight assists, six points and an ace.
Paula Ganoe added 10 points with seven aces, four kills and three points.
Ana Shillingburg recorded six points, five aces and a kill.
Reagan Getz finished with eight points, two aces and an assist.
Arabella DeValk had four kills and two points.
Out of Calvary’s 11 players, only five returned from last year.
“This was only our second game of the season, and this young team is beginning to grow together,” Wall said. “Trust in each other is the thing we are trying to build on. Trust that we will be there for each other, trust that we are covering each other and trust that each one of us will do our job the best that we can. We have the skill, we have the passion and we have the know how, now we need to become a team. I am beginning to see the growth.
“We will be tested next week with three tough matches coming up.”
The Eagles head to Frederick to play New Life on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
