Returning honorees: Ava Fair: CAL Second Team All-Star
Captains: Olivia Hughes, Emily McManus
Odds and ends: Georgetown is excited to welcome new coach Sarah Bradley to the sidelines this fall. She replaces the school’s former Athletic Director, Ryan Browner, who stepped in and led the team the past two years after not being able to find a permanent coach. Browner is now the Athletic Director at Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston, N.H. … Between co-captains Olivia Hughes and Emily McManus, along with returning CAL All-Star Ava Fair, the Royals have a strong core back on the roster for Bradley to work with. … There is also a heavy presence of the softball team on the roster. A solid fact, seeing as the Georgetown softball program has won 35 total games over the past two years with trips to the Division 5 finals and semifinals during that stretch. … Fair was a Daily News All-Star last spring after hitting .470 (31-for-66) with 27 RBI and 3 home runs. Then elsewhere, Gillien Figueroa (.380, 25 RBI, 3 HRs) started at third base while Meghan Maguire (2 HRs) was a starting outfielder. … Chloe Morrison was a key member of the basketball team last winter. … The Royals have started out the new year 1-1 after a win over Gloucester and a loss to Hamilton-Wenham.

Returning leaders: Gretchen Boelke: 266 assists, 63 aces; Brooke Lawton: 121 digs, 28 aces
Odds and ends: Over the past four years, coach Lori Solazzo and the Newburyport program have gone a combined 59-29 with two CAL Kinney titles, two appearances in the Division 3 Round of 16, and another run to the state Final Four. … And with 10 key returners — led by Daily News All-Stars and co-captains Gretchen Boelke and Brooke Lawton — the Clippers will once again challenge the top of the league this year. … Boelke was a Daily News Tennis All-Star last spring, finishing with a 10-4 record from her No. 3 singles spot to help the Clippers reach the Div. 3 quarterfinals. … Sadie Reardon was also a Daily News Tennis All-Star last school year, who posted a team-best 12-3 record at No. 2 doubles alongside partner Lily Su. … Another two-sport standout on the team is Ava Bailey, who was named a Daily News Basketball All-Star last winter after averaging 8.7 ppg with a team-high 19 3-pointers. … Ellie LeDuc is a returning hitting leader from a year ago who comes from a talented volleyball family. Her older sister, Lily, is a former Daily News All-Star and current sophomore playing for Assumption College. … The Clippers have a trio of newcomers this year in Phoebe Li Eyink, Amanda Linteris and Lilah Thompson who are all multi-sport standouts. Eyink has experienced plenty of success during both track seasons, Linteris scored 44 goals with 11 assists to help the lacrosse team reach its third straight Div. 3 championship game, and Thompson had a team-high 17 RBI for the softball program. … Newburyport has started out the 2025 season 2-1 after wins over Marblehead and Essex Tech and a loss to North Reading.

PENTUCKET
Coach Kelly Lyons: (4th year, 19-33)
2024 record: 13-6, lost in D3 First Round
Returners (7): Tey Turner, Sr., OH; Carly Foley, Sr., DS; Alanna Cepeda, Sr., DS; Amelia Crowe, Sr., MB; Michaela Gabardi, Jr., S/OPP; Devyn Walsh, Jr., MB/OPP; Emma Burkinshaw, Jr., OH
Newcomers: Valerie Ridgley, Jr., DS; Ellie DeRosa, Jr., DS; Genevieve D’Angelo, Jr., S/DS; Naya Carvalho, Soph., MB/OPP; Adeline Carll, Soph., OH; Sienna Duchemin, Frosh., OPP; Fiona Walsh, Frosh., MB/OPP
Captains: Tey Turner, Carly Foley, Alana Cepeda, Amelia Crowe
Returning honorees: None.
Odds and ends: Coach Kelly Lyons and Pentucket are coming off back-to-back years in which the program has won its most ever games. Last fall was by far the best, however, as the Panthers (13-6) made the program’s first ever playoff appearance and won a preliminary round game against Belchertown — before nearly upsetting Nipmuc in a five-set thriller. … But after losing 10 key seniors from last year’s roster, new faces will need to quickly adjust to bigger roles if that trend is to continue. … A trio of returners, though, have excelled both in volleyball and with the basketball team. Amelia Crowe is our reigning Daily News Basketball MVP from last winter, having averaged 15.8 ppg with 50 3-pointers in helping Pentucket reach the Division 3 quarterfinals for the fourth straight year. Then Devyn Walsh (5.2 ppg) was a starting forward for the team, while Carly Foley (3.9 ppg) played big minutes and was one of the first players into the game off the bench. … The Panthers then have a pair of softball standouts on the team in Michaela Gabardi and Emma Burkinshaw, who last spring helped the program win 19 games and its first CAL Kinney title since 1990. … Pentucket has opened up the new year 0-2 after setbacks to Central Catholic and Lynnfield.

TRITON
Coach Bob Van Etten: (7th year, 31-77)
2024 record: 0-16, missed playoffs
Returners (10): Elinor Leahy, Sr., S; Abby Richard, Sr., OH; Olivia Basile, Sr., S; Aubrey Jodz, Sr., OH; Colleen Johnson, Sr., MH; Ava Connolly, Sr., OH; Danika Prendergast, Sr., MH; Ava Martin, Jr., libero; Janey LeBlanc, Jr., libero; Emma D’Andrea, Jr., libero
Newcomers: Jayleen Lorenzo, Jr., MH; Sarah Zahornasky, Soph., S;
Captains: Abby Richard, Aubrey Jodz
Returning honorees: Aubrey Jodz: CAL All-Star Second Team
Odds and ends: Last year was a trying one for what was a young Triton team, which came close at times but wasn’t able to win a match. But with 10 key returning players from that roster back — led by co-captains Aubrey Jodz and Abby Richard — the Vikings and coach Bob Van Etten are confident that they’ll improve. … And through just two games this fall, that has already proven to be the case. The Vikings opened the season with a win over Winthrop, then proceeded to take state power Ipswich — yes, the same Ipswich program that has won four straight Division 4 State Championships — to five sets before falling. Janey LeBlanc, Ava Martin, Olivia Basile and the two captains have all played well over the first two games. … Both Colleen Johnson and Danika Prendergast have showcased plenty of athleticism during the two track seasons. Last winter, Johnson was named a Daily News Indoor Track All-Star after posting a season-best of 9.02 in the 55-hurdles (third best in Triton history) and clearing 5-0 in the high jump. … Ava Connolly is a standout diver for the Triton co-op swimming team, and was also a co-captain for the tennis team last spring.
